During my 2nd H1B stamping, I also faced the same situation in New Delhi consulate. I got 221g and the visa officer told me that my application need some adminstrative approval from DC and it will take 3-4 weeks. Those 4 weeks were painful. My whole vacation was runied. Anyway after 4 weeks I got a call from the Embassy and got stamped next day.
But one of friend faced the same problem in New Delhi last year. For him, it took 6 months to get the name check done....So be prepared man...I am so sorry that you have to go through this...I can feel the pain...Now I am really scared to go for my next stamping as my visa has expired and I missed the July bus ....so I do not habe AP...:(((

Yea, I was making a calvin( and hobbes, hobbes is to hard to make) during my lunch then my works video card shot (luckily i have 4 monitors so 2 still work or I would be screwed). Would be nice if when a video card blew it didn't shut down the entire thing :(

well. won't you need the receipt when you travel..i thought one was required to carry the receipt when traveling internationally.
I'm going to ask my employer/lawyer for the receipt as I have to go out of country in the second week of October. But you never know, these guys don't care about your life.. They might still not give it to you... (Yeah, everyone knows I-485 is OUR application and they do not have a legal right to hold our receipt notices, but we are at their mercy for atleast 180 days)

I'm not a lawyer so please don't take my thoughts as the ultimate truth.
It's illegal for you to work on an F1. But it's not illegal for you to be a sleeping partner in a business. So I guess you can setup a company with a citizen/GC partner and sell yr app thru that and collect the proceeds as dividends.
Or you can also register a company in your home country and sell the app through that. So technically u wouldn't be making money in the US.
There are a million ways around these laws. The question is are you gonna make a lot of money? If you are, you can afford lawyers up the wazoo to make yr case.
So pursue yr dreams and stop worrying about silly things like immigration laws if you have a big idea.
For inspiration, look up Phillipe Kahn on wiki. He started working as an illegal immigrant programmer for HP, and became one of the greatest forces in software.

As per my understanding, due to the July 2, 2007 fiasco, Visa dates were unavailable for ALL chargeability areas between July 2nd - July 17th 2007 (i.e until USCIS temporarily made relaxation after protests from IV et al. )
So how can the processing date be July 11th !!
It implies that they are processing a case that was filed/receipted on July 11th !! Whereas as per the Visa bulletin they should not be processing any case that was filed when PDs were not current during that brief time slot (2nd - 17th of july).
If indeed people did continue to file their papers even after July 2nd (and some did), then may be they are processing those (relatively) few applications. But would they allow such applications. I guess they are...they are atleast processing them :) , whether or not they will honor such filings I dont know....

My case was closed in Error at the PBEC. My attorney had sent a letter saying this some months ago. Today my attorney informed me that there is some new procedure of re-opening cases that was closed in error using which he says he sent the information by email today.

yes Minor children are not eligible for OCI if both parents are having indian passport.they have to wait untill they are 18. it is clearly mentioned in the consulate websites.

The attorney informed us that both our EAD's were received today.
The point here is the original ead expiry date was 10/15/2008. The new EAD expiry is 07/15/2010 and not 10/14/2010.
Its validity is not 2 years from the original expiry but 2 years from the current approval date.
Are others getting it the same way?
