This is not at all strange to anyone who knows the basic business model of TJ Maxx. They buy odd overstock lots of goods, mostly clothes, so they can sell them at a deep discount.
With the rollout of the iPad to numerous new retailers, there were, by extension, numerous opportunities for someone to get overstock. Perhaps Verizon mis-estimated the popularity of the iPad bundled with the My-Fi. Perhaps Target guessed that people would prefer the 16 GB version when in fact the 32 and 64 were more popular. Perhaps someone simply needed to reduce orders to solve a cash flow problem.
In any case, once this happened, TJ Maxx did what they exist to do - stepped in and offered to buy the overstock at a discount so they could sell up. There's no controversy or mystery here - it's just that TJ Maxx managed to land a particularly good lot of stock.
(To clarify, I suspect that whatever retailer sold their stock to TJ Maxx did so at a loss. Did this violate their agreement with Apple? I'd be surprised if it did - there's surely a clause in most of the MAP contracts to deal with clearance/closeout pricing. Indeed, Amazon routinely undersells MAP - the only rule is they can't advertise those prices, so they require you to put the item in the cart to view the price. The question asked of heterosexuals =/= asked gay and bisexual men. The risk factor for straight people is risky sex, the risk factor asked for gay men is not risky sex, but sex at all - even once. Its not the same thing. If there was no bigotry behind the question it would be raised this way to all, no matter what orientation "have you had unprotected sex with more than one partner in the last 5 years, if yes have you been tested for HIV?"

Okay, i just want to clarify somethings.
If an officer tells a teenage girl "try to avoid dressing provocatively", and you'll lower your chances of sexual assault, i find that to be fine.
Keep in mind we're not talking about Africa or Middle East, we're talking about US and there are women who get sexually assaulted regardless of what they're wearing...
Remarkably, the Iranian 'morality' police use your exact logic to force women to cover up, lest a hint of ankle might incense men to commit some terrible act.
The only difference is the amount of skin that makes such acts justifiable in some way, after all, the girl doesn't respect herself.
Men who rape women are monsters. Full stop and no amount of false equivalence will change this.

gosh i can remember not that many years ago.. before i had established clients... rent would be due the next day and i was $100 short... then the phone rings with some new low budget client... i tell ya, those problematic and low-budget clients save the day now and again.
until you get established and can reliably and predictably pay the bills each month, be careful which projects you walk away from. once you get going, build up a supply of cash-money, enough to get you through a few bad months.
alot of people here may be established and have good and reliable income, and some may have been substantially profitable from day one, but im sure many of us can remember the early days and the lean days, when you might have taken a client you would never touch nowadays.
always make certain you can pay the bills each month, sometimes that means you have to deal with a knucklehead, or get paid substantially less than what you want, and if it turns out that you have to do just that, don't think less of yourself for it, the lean days will pass, the good days will come. many of us have been there and back, more than once.
be honorable, fair, charitable. in your spare time build websites, etc for people/groups who need them. ie, independent homeless shelters for runaway kids. add it to your portfolio if you need to, especially when your starting out.

Question. How did you get your weather widget background to be transparent, but not the text (the symbols and temps)? When I adjust the transparency in Amnesty, the whole widget (not just the blue background) goes more transparent....
I am using a widget called 'Invisible Weather', and for the life of me i can't find where I got it from. A google search should be turning something up, but I'm not seeing it, hope that helps.

I've just been migrating services off a G5 Xserve running 10.5 Server, to a Mac Pro running 10.6 Server.
It dawned on me it'd be a good idea to get an actual SSL certificate. Because of the lack of funds available, I've gone for PositiveSSL.
Here are the steps I took to get it:
1. In Server Admin > Certificates I chose Generate CSR
2. I pasted this in to Comodo's page and chose Apache + MOD SSL
3. Took the .crt file emailed to me and chose "replace with signed certificate", dropped it on and clicked "replace certificate" (replacing the old, self signed one).
This all seemed to work fine. HOWEVER, the web service doesn't seem to be playing ball with it at all and because of this I'm scared to propagate it around any other services.
These are the errors I'm receiving: (not that Server Admin notices anything wrong!)

It's nice that you can connect your iPod to the car stereo (if it has a line-in), but just another expensive gadget you need to carry around all the time and overall very expensive. Since years I am waiting for a car stereo that is capable of using SD or CF cards. MP3 playback from CDs is already no issue anymore since years. When the next logical step is finally coming?
To me the whole Disc format in every way is a pain...

I think we should try to keep the software listed here just to what�s flat-out free. Perhaps if someone wants, we can start a second thread to the tune of ��Not Exactly Free, But Worth It!� Software.� As a general rule, any software with a trial period isn�t free, so we should probably keep it out of this thread in order to keep with the thread�s theme. (And BTW � this isn�t directed at anyone in particular.)
