I think it's more that Apple realized that in order to make money off the iPod they would have to make it too expensive for most people. When the iPod was released in 2001 it cost $500, and everyone bitched about it being too expensive. So Apple has changed their approach to selling the iPod for as cheap as possible while still making a little bit of money; this way they sell a lot more so their profits are higher than if they sold the iPod to make money. Ya follow?
The Mac on the other hand is still priced to be the cash cow.

In 90% of what we say, does it have any point to it? You say, "Hello." What's the Point? You already know that you know them, and they know that you know them; therefore is there any point in saying hello, if you can just smile, showing you've acknowledged them. When you make a mistake don't get down about it - laugh it off, it'll "lengthen our own life"; however, if you laugh at a person who made a mistake, you'll make them get down about it, therefore, "shortening their's." It also may be referring to suicide, but I haven't read the context - Hellhammer, Herdfan: if you feel you're about to commit suicide, DON'T listen to Adele. :)
Basically, don't laugh at other people's mistakes; both of them were innocent mistakes - there's no need to point them out - they know what they did, even if it's subconscious - we know what they mean.

Im a recent switcher. I bought a powerbook g4 on ebay and it came without an install disk. I now want to run gcc and found that i need xcode 3.1.4. Any idea where I can get it ? preferably free.

This makes a lot of sense. I suspect we may see this transition far faster than we think. What if Apple were to announce an AMD powered Power Mac at MWSF? From a software standpoint it seems almost unthinkable, but if they've found some way to do it with a minimal impact..... hmmm....

What is a good app for a newbie to create a webpage? I want something simple and easy, free would be a plus. I also have a simple knowledge of html.Well, sticking to the question at hand... I can't think of anything that is free, but for someone just wanting to make a webpage (and not spend hours, days, years to become a professional) I usually suggest either Create (http://www.stone.com/Create/Create.html) or Freeway Express (http://www.softpress.com/en/freeway/express).
When I just need to put up a page or two on my own sites I use Create. Otherwise I use GoLive and OmniWeb (for editing source code) as the main tools for creating sites for my clients. Plus Create shares a service that will convert rich text in TextEdit to html to be dropped into an html document later (saves a little time).

Is that done just by going to accounts, unlocking the lock, right clicking the name and selecting the home folder -- and I presume just making sure it's the same folder that is selected for SL?
Also, given my setup (SSD booting and running SL with my apps) what is the best way to install Lion? I have the dmg. file, so what would I do to make sure I don't wipe out my SSD situation?

It means that the cursor movement is not linear to the mouse movement. Google it and you will see that it's a huge issue for people that want to game on their Macs, especially for Windows switchers that are not used to it. The worst part is that there is no setting in OS X to remove it.

I promised the bloopers and I just imported em all off the camera, it took us 15 times according to the clips in iMovie to get it right.

for 1 thing we all know is that the SB will most likely have a weaker GPU for games, and if gaming on the Air isn't your idea, well, a refresh might be better, but as for now, just keep your Air, i am sure, a lot of people would still buy the current Air even when the refresh is out

I'm sorry but this is still an illegal activity under the terms of the EULA that all users of the game agree to when they install the code.
Blizzard own the rights to the game, the code and the ideas behind the game where applicable, and that is what they are protecting.
For sure they want the player base to keep paying the fees for server access, but they put the money into the development, publishing and maintenance of the multitude of game servers, and they have the legal right to profit from their endeavors.
Whilst you may not agree that pirating a beta test client to run on a server is a big deal, Blizzard do and the law is on their side.
MacRumors cannot condone the promotion of illegal activities on these forums.

Store Manager was great. Team was great. They all chanted my name and gave me high fives when I walked in the store. It was really fun. I think I would do all of this again if I could. It was really really a great time.

I bought two of these, one for me, one for my wife. In a random fashion, either the left ear or the right ear will "go deaf". Occasionally both ears will "go deaf". My wife's jack is so loose that it simply separates from the nano with the slightest movement! I get the same problems when I use my Bose earphones. The reason seems to be that the audio jack ports on this product have been manufactured without adequate attention to quality control. Short of returning the nanos, can you think of a solution?

I was browsing the iTMS today and I have never created an account so I decided to try, but then I got to the point where it asks for your credit card info. I was wondering, is there a fee at all to register an account? Sorry, this may sound like a dumb question but after my recent powerbook purchase I find myself a little strapped for cash, so every penny I got counts...
